St. Edward Parish and the Newman Catholic Club welcome you to Granville, Licking County, and the Diocese of Columbus.
St. Edward's main weekly activity on the Denison campus is our Monday Food & Faith gathering at Slayter from 7:30-8:15 p.m. We meet on the 2nd floor of Slayter for food and discussion of scripture and other topics related to growing in faith and holiness during college.
Starting Sunday, September 8, there will also be a Sunday 4:30 p.m. Mass on campus at Swasey Chapel whenever classes are in session.Denison students are warmly welcomed at St. Edward Church! Students often carpool to the weekend Masses (5:00 p.m. Saturday evening; 8:15 a.m. & 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning) and daily Masses (9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.)
Throughout the years, the Newman Catholic Club has also provided many opportunities for Denisonians, including:- On campus: distribution of ashes at Swasey Chapel on Ash Wednesday, a Halloween Party with pumpkin carving contest, guest speakers, Campus Stations of the Cross, a variety of service projects, and other events in conjunction with Denison's Spiritual Life Center
- At St. Edward's: serving as cantors, instrumentalists, choir members, liturgical ministers, youth group leaders, grade-school catechists; receiving the sacraments of initiation through the parish OCIA program (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist)
- Off campus: one-day and two-day retreats, pilgrimages to Catholic sites in the Diocese of Columbus and beyond, speakers/presentations, the diocesan Chrism Mass at the cathedral, concerts
- Individual spiritual guidance with our chaplain and campus ministers
Denison students are always welcome to pray at St. Edward's as well. Days and times are:
- Mass: 5:00 p.m. Saturday Vigil ++ 8:15 & 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning ++ 9:00 a.m. Weekdays (Monday to Friday)
- Reconciliation: 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays; seasonal penance services during Advent and Lent
- Adoration: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays; 7:00-8:00 p.m. on First Fridays; special times as announced
